This policy covers the website at city-in-a-snowglobe.com and the Android app of the same name. It describes what the app stores, what it sends, and how advertising works.

What is sent to our server

When you look up a city, the name you typed is sent to our own endpoint, which forwards it to OpenWeather and returns the result. This exists so the weather API key stays on the server instead of being shipped inside the page.

Like any web server, it records ordinary request logs, which include your IP address. These are not linked to a person and are not used to build a profile.

The app does not ask for your device location. Weather is looked up by the city name you choose.

What is stored on your device

Nothing is stored on our servers. The following is kept in your browser's own storage and is removed when you clear site data:

• Weather results, for fifteen minutes, so returning to a city does not cost another request. An expired copy is kept for up to a day and shown if the network is unavailable.
• Your advertising preference, if you turn ads off.
• A first-launch flag, so the page reloads itself once per session.

Camera and motion, in AR mode

AR mode asks for the camera and, on phones, the motion sensors. The camera image is drawn behind the globe on your own device: it is never recorded, uploaded or sent anywhere. Both permissions can be refused, and the app stays in 3D mode.

Advertising

The website shows ads from Google AdSense inside the weather panel. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or across many networks at optout.aboutads.info.
• Adding ?ads=off to the address turns the ad slots off in this browser and keeps them off.
• No ads are shown while the camera is in use.
• Google's own description of how it uses data is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The Android app does not use AdSense. When advertising is enabled there it will come from Google AdMob, and this policy will be updated to say so.

Measurement

The website uses Vercel Speed Insights to measure page performance — how quickly the page loads and responds. It does not use cookies and does not identify visitors. It does not run in the Android app.

Children

City In A Snowglobe is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

• Clear the site's data in your browser to remove everything listed above.
• Use ?ads=off to stop the ad slots rendering.
• Refuse the camera and motion prompts; only AR mode needs them.
